About Swisscape

An independent guide to the places in Switzerland that most visitors never reach — researched, verified and shared responsibly.

Most visitors to Switzerland see the same dozen places, often at the same hour. Yet a short train ride from almost any of them there are lakes, gorges, villages and viewpoints that are just as remarkable and far quieter. Finding them usually takes days of reading forums, cross-checking timetables and guessing whether a path is open. We do that work once, carefully, and keep it up to date.

How it works

Every place has a public page with its scores, what makes it special, when to go and the safety information you need — free to read. The practical details that take the longest to research — the exact spot, the route from the nearest station, the time of day to go to avoid people — are part of the Switzerland Secret Map, a one-time purchase. Some places are entirely free to explore.

How we make money

Only from people who buy the Switzerland Secret Map. There are no ads, no affiliate rankings and no paid placements: a place cannot pay to be included or to rank higher. Links to journey planners are provided for convenience; any commercial relationship with a linked service is disclosed in our editorial policy.

Responsibility

A guide to quiet places has a duty not to ruin them. We never publish exact locations of fragile or protected places, we include the official access rules, and we point people to many places rather than funnelling everyone to one. Read how we choose places.
