Editorial policy
What you can expect from every page on this site, and what we will never do.

Independence
Places are chosen and ranked only by our editors, using the published methodology. We do not accept payment, gifts or free services in exchange for inclusion, ranking or coverage. If a destination, tourism office or business ever supports our research, we will say so on the affected page.
Some pages link to journey planners, including Railza, so you can plan a trip by public transport. These links never influence which places we include or how they rank. Any commercial relationship with a linked service will be stated here.
Accuracy and verification
- Every published place is verified against at least one primary source, and on site where possible.
- Each place lists its sources with the date they were checked, and shows when the place was last verified.
- Practical facts — coordinates, access, opening times, costs, safety — always come from a source, never from assumption.
- Conditions in the mountains change. Where a place is weather- or season-dependent, we say so prominently.
Corrections
Every place page has a “Report a problem” link. Reports go straight to an editor. Confirmed errors are corrected and the verification date is updated. Significant corrections — for example a path that has closed — are reflected immediately, and the place is marked as needing an update until it has been re-checked.
How we use AI
AI tools help us research, draft, summarise sources, tag places and suggest related pages. Our rules:
- AI never invents coordinates, access information, opening status, legal access, costs or safety information. Every such fact is taken from a cited source, or shown as unknown.
- Facts drafted with AI help are checked against the cited sources before publication, and locations, elevations, protection status and timetables are confirmed with official open data.
- We never present AI-generated statements as verified facts.
Our launch set of places was researched and written with AI assistance and checked against official sources; each page says “checked against official sources” until an editor has visited. If you spot something wrong, please report it from the place page — corrections are made quickly.
Photography
We only publish photographs we have taken ourselves, commissioned, or have explicit permission or a licence to use, and every photo is credited. We never copy images from other websites or social media. Until a place has a licensed photo, its page shows a map illustration instead.
Protecting places and people
We don't publish precise locations where more visitors could damage habitats, disturb wildlife, encourage trespassing or create danger. For such places we show the region, the official access route and the local rules, for everyone. We don't turn fragile places into challenges or rankings to collect.
Reviews and testimonials
We only show reviews and testimonials from real customers, with their permission, and never edit them to change their meaning.
